Everton Football Club have reached an agreement believed to be in the region of £1million with Major League Soccer team New York Red Bulls for Australian international midfielder Tim Cahill.

Cahill has been on Mersyside since 2004 but his long-spell at the club is now set to come to an end in favour of a switch to the USA.

The Toffees confirmed the agreement on their official website on Monday evening, with Cahill's potential move dependent on the player agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

A club statement said: "Everton have agreed with Major League Soccer (MLS) that Tim Cahill can be transferred to the New York Red Bulls.

"Tim, 32, will move to the Red Bulls for a nominal fee, subject to agreeing personal terms and passing a medical. He will travel to the US in the next few days."

Tim Cahill joined the Toffees from Millwall back in 2004 and has racked up 278 appearances at Goodison, scoring 68 goals.
